No Netflix binge-watching sessions last Sunday, because there was another interesting event on the calendar: the Marilyn 90 exhibition at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. This year marks the 90th birthday of Marilyn Monroe and it’s celebrated with an exhibition that showcases personal items of Marilyn. Was it worth visiting?
A few days ago I had yet another Vintage meets Present moment. I actually have a lot of those. There was nothing interesting to watch on television – I also have a lot of those moments recently – so I decided it was dvd time: Classic Hollywood o’clock. Although watching dvd’s is also considered vintage these days. I was in the mood to watch a good old comedy that I hadn’t watched before, so I decided to watch the movie Monkey Business. So what kind of movie is it and more importantly: is the movie worth watching?
There is something about the introduction tune of historical videos and news bulletins. It always has this typical very nostalgic sound and it makes me anxious for the rest of the newsbulletin. It gives me that you-don’t-want-to-miss-this feeling. I have the same with introduction tunes of Old Hollywood movies. I love it. That’s why I’m always intrigued whenever I see old (news) videoclips.
