What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Most pictures are our own, have been photographed by us and is a portrait of us. Next to that, we use pictures from image databases that contain copyright free images. In other (rare) cases we will ask for permission to use certain images and/or movies.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. The same applies to anonymous visitors of this website: cookies are only meant for your convenience, to have a nice user experience.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with
We don’t share you information with third parties for any commercial purposes. The only third parties we use are: Google Analytics, Gravatar and Mailchimp.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Examples of user profiles: Editor, moderator or (co-) admin on this website.
What rights you have over your data
If you have subscribed to my blog you can request that we erase your email address and name from our mailing list. If you have left any comment, you can request to edit and/or have these comments delete or have left comments. Next to that, you can request to receive information about the personal data w have collected of you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. We used Google analytics to discover which topics/pages interest you the most and which search terms brought you to our website. We have made a processing agreement with Google. This website is free from ads, so no marketing cookies here! Next to that, your IP address is anonimized in Google Analytics, so your personal data is protected.
Next to that, we use Mailchimp to send you updates about new blogposts or other news about this weblog. We will only send you emails if you have actively subscribed to our mailing list.
How we protect your data
We use a firewall to protect our website against hackers and unauthorized use. Next to that, we have had an SSL certificate for this website for more than two years and this will be also the case in the future.
What third parties we receive data from
We use Google Analytics, Gravatar and Mailchimp. We only receive your name and address. If you use Gravatar to comment, we will also receive your profile picture. Through our e-mail address we may also receive any message our information that you want to share with us.
