Yesterday I was mesmerizing about the past. I am not talking about the roaring twenties, fifties or sixties. No, this time I am talking about the time I grew up: (mainly) the nineties. Certain things that were so common (or literally painful) back then, are now filed in the funny childhood memories section. I am actually the kind of person who talks like the nineties are still 10 years ago, but time flies. We are almost 20-25 years away. There are always funny moments that you remember from the time that you were a kid. Here are a few memories that always make me smile (or: #facepalm) when I think back.
There is something about pencil skirts and dresses. I have always been fascinated by them. They are so classy and feminine. A while back I’ve written a post about the history of the pencil skirt. Remember how it all started with a propeller in 1908 and that it was first called the Wiggle skirt propeller in 1911 and that it was first called the Wiggle skirt? It wasn’t that long ago when women were only allowed to wear skirts and dresses. Things have changed though. Thanks to classic icons like Katherine Hepburn, fashion trends and a huge mentality change later in the 20th century. But there is one thing that didn’t change: pencil skirts and dresses never went out of style. Let’s wiggle back from the old vintage days to the present, because nowadays it’s still that classy item that is always right and suitable for every occasion.
What’s current life without some typical vintage meets present vibes? Vintage fashion and style are hotter than ever. When it comes to music, old has ofcourse always been gold. As long as I can remember, I grew up with classics of the old days and of course the popular 90s hits that now have become classics. Back then – as in: the 90s – I used the rewind button a lot. Mostly because I always scrolled back too much and then I had scroll forward again, while still missing the beginning of the song. 90s kids will understand the struggle. At the moment the repeat button makes my life a lot easier.
These lovely summer days, call for a summer playlist. Now, there are two sides to this summer playlist story. There are those popular summer hits that everyone knows. From the Lambada to La Bamba. Great summer classics, I also replay those songs until I am tired of them. Which is after 100+ times usually. I am a really big fan of that replay button.
I am not a morning person, but a real night owl. People who know me, will nod approvingly and those who follow me on social media have seen my midnight inspiration brainwaves. So the problem for a night person is not the fact that they meet their bed too late on a daily basis. No, in fact there is more than one problem: the morning starts too soon, there are too less hours in a day and inspiration waves always come between 11PM and 1AM. Night persons will totally understand these excuses strong and valid arguments.
