Another Vintage meets Present episode! Today, I have a special ode to the nowadays digital (GIFS) era. If you look at my social media channels, it’s fair to say that I really like social media. If you look back on my social networks journey, then it’s fair to say that I am an early adopter of social networks. Very Present indeed. These days it’s easier than ever to make the past come alive. How? Read along:
There is something about the introduction tune of historical videos and news bulletins. It always has this typical very nostalgic sound and it makes me anxious for the rest of the newsbulletin. It gives me that you-don’t-want-to-miss-this feeling. I have the same with introduction tunes of Old Hollywood movies. I love it. That’s why I’m always intrigued whenever I see old (news) videoclips. You can imagine that I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that Vintage meets Present was about to be taken literally.
Remember the pre-selfie time a few years ago? The time when you asked someone else to make a picture of you with a good old (digital) camera. Or…the time when you used the self-timer button for delayed action shutter release to create those very professional and spontaneous pictures that still make you proud. “No this picture was not made by a professional. Shutter buttons for life.” The shutter release button time is still going strong, because why wait for someone else to make a picture, when your shutter release button skills are still going strong.
