Magazine brought to life: INCONCEPT Live Magazine

Reading a magazine. Been there done that. Still doing it when it’s an interesting magazine. But what about a magazine that you can experience live? Never been there and never done that. So it was time to try. Last Thursday was the grand opening of a new pop-up store in Rotterdam: INCONCEPT Live Magazine. As a blogger, I was invited to this event to experience this new pop-up store.
Let’s start with some background information. INCONCEPT Live Magazine is founded by Evana Kuik. Evana Kuik is a designer and has her own label: EVAN Menswear. Her idea was to create a live platform for upcoming creative designers and artists, where they can work on new concepts and designs and show their unique products to the public. INCONCEPT aims to be a platform for national and international talents. Just like a magazine has various categories, INCONCEPT offers various live categories: fashion, food, (interior) …

Sorry honey, I’m booked.

Sometimes I’m seriously “booked”. I’m talking about the big, old fashioned books with pages that you have to turn, in other words: no e-book reader material. If you want to get in the relax mode, then nothing beats reading a good book once in a while.
The thing with books is, that you can create your own little world. Somebody else wrote it, but you’re the one who brings the story to life, in your own mind and with your own thoughts. Just think about it: since every reader makes their only little story, imagine how many stories one book can actually have…That’s also the reason why the book is always better than the movie. Nothing beats the story and characters that you created in your mind!

From time to time I feel the need to take my blog title seriously. Today is one of those days.
A few weeks ago I watched the movie Chocolat. Great movie by the way, with a lot of that delicious chocolate (J. Depp included). But…there was something in the movie that I just had to try: Spicy hot chocolate! I must say…it tasted delicious.
So, DO try this at home!
All you need is:
– Enough milk to fill one or two cups
– a pinch of chili powder (If you’re going for the real deal: you can also use one fresh red chili which you warm with the milk)
– a pinch of vanilla
– 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (powder)
– 50g of dark chocolate or 50g of cocoa powder
– sugar
– whipped cream
