When Fashion and Wisdom met Coco Chanel

When we think about Coco Chanel, we think about a woman who launched the first perfume with a designer name (Chanel no. 5), which would also become one of the most popular perfumes of all time. Coco also showed women that there was more to (lingerie) life than corsets, because “fashion is a luxury and luxury should be comfortable”. Cheers to that! Especially since corsets were extremely not-comfortable in those days. She was also the first designer who believed that black could be very classy in a time where black was related to grief and mourning. Now Coco was a woman with a very strong will of her own. So in the 1920s she designed that lovely Little Black Dress that probably hangs in the (imaginary walk-in) closet of a lot of women who read this. Not only her designs, but also her appearance was always glamorous yet minimalistic. However, …

Spotted: happiness dust

When I say challenges, what is the first thing that pops up in your mind? To have and to hold a healthier lifestyle for example? Or maybe to do something you’ve never done before like…bungeejumping? When we are talking about physical or other “tangible” challenges, a lot of people will be up for it. But what about the mental challenges? The amount of people that will start with a mental challenge is far less than physical challenges. The ones that will try to keep challenging themselves mentally? Even fewer. However, keep in mind that everyday, everyone is “seeking” for happiness. Isn’t it ironic? So, let’s hear it for the mental challenges. Because what’s within you will influence every action on the outside.
Welcome to the 100happydays challenge. Or in this case, my 100happydays challenge. Although I am someone who already has a positive state of mind, I really wanted to take …

The mistakes missile

March 6, 2014 | Inspirational column | 0 comments

Every day of your life you leave a trail of choices with or without mistakes. Today might have been a good day or it might have been a bad day. Tomorrow you might get lucky or maybe you won’t. Next week you might make some good choices and next month a (few) mistake(s). Or you mix it all up in a cocktail of good and bad choices in one day. Anything can happen.Keep in mind that the ones that are making good choices today, will also make mistakes. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but next week, next month or a few years from now. Because everyone gets hit by the mistakes missile every now and then.

Inspiration treat: in-your-face quotes by F. Scott Fitzgerald

January 4, 2014 | Vintage lifestyle | 0 comments

We’re still in the spicy food for thought mood. So here is another (mid)night inspiration treat. I love original in-your-face quotes. Today it’s time to bring you some of the most inspirational and lovely in-your-face quotes of writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. His short novels have been the base of several movies like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and of course: The Great Gatsby, (I wrote a review of the last Great Gatsby movie).
But, since it’s inspirational quote time, let’s hear it for the masterpieces of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short stories. When you read them you’ll realise something. One way or another they can still be applied in your life today and in the lives of others 100 years of today.
