10 witty conversation starters for a good 1950s housewife

Last week, I was doing my obligated cleaning round at home. As I was imagining how wonderful it would be if dust magically disappeared, dishes would clean themselves and how wonderful it would be to have my own personal cook during weekdays, another thought hit me. My cleaning dislike level is pretty high, but imagine how life was for a good 1950s housewife. A lifestyle without technological innovations like dishwashers, smart washing machines and induction cooking. More importantly, a time where a woman’s place was in fact often in the kitchen.
Let’s face it. All that Hollywood glamour, rock & roll and of course vintage style is lovely and nice, but truly living the everyday life in the 1950s as a woman… that’s a different story. Especially if you were married and had kids (since living together in those days was a no-no).

The Classic Hollywood face swap files

It all started with couch potato activities last Tuesday when I came home after a nice dinner. Yes, couch potato activities can be very good for your creativity. Since I use Snapchat only for the filters, I decided to check if there were some new filters added that day. After chuckling about a hilarious filter, I decided to try out the “face swap with another picture” option. It’s actually a filter that I always skip. But not anymore. I finally understand the “hype” of this filter.

Hail, Caesar!

Have you ever had the feeling that you were somewhere and you were like: “This was a little strange, but at the same time pretty good”. Well, I had that feeling after I watched Hail, Caesar! in the cinema last weekend. I already heard some stories about the producers of the movie. They make slightly different movies. So, I went there without expectations. Before I watched the movie, I have seen some trailers and it delighted my vintage heart that this movie was shot in a Vintage meets Present setting. I mean, how can I not see this movie that is set in the Golden Era. So, here is a little personal review of the movie Hail, Caesar!

Put a vintage music filter on it

What’s current life without some typical vintage meets present vibes? Vintage fashion and style are hotter than ever. When it comes to music, old has ofcourse always been gold. As long as I can remember, I grew up with classics of the old days and of course the popular 90s hits that now have become classics. Back then – as in: the 90s – I used the rewind button a lot. Mostly because I always scrolled back too much and then I had scroll forward again, while still missing the beginning of the song. 90s kids will understand the struggle. At the moment the repeat button makes my life a lot easier.
