The mistakes missile

March 6, 2014 | Inspirational column | 0 comments

Every day of your life you leave a trail of choices with or without mistakes. Today might have been a good day or it might have been a bad day. Tomorrow you might get lucky or maybe you won’t. Next week you might make some good choices and next month a (few) mistake(s). Or you mix it all up in a cocktail of good and bad choices in one day. Anything can happen.Keep in mind that the ones that are making good choices today, will also make mistakes. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but next week, next month or a few years from now. Because everyone gets hit by the mistakes missile every now and then.

When it comes down to events in your life, there are a lot of things you can control. Unfortunately, there are also essential things beyond your control.

Controlling your attitude, yes you can

Controlling someone else’s attitude, no you can’t

Put your back into it, yes you can

Dive into an adventure, yes you can

Let your adventures end well, no you can’t

Today’s special: Spicy quote soup

December 3, 2013 | Inspirational column | 0 comments

Today on the menu: Some homemade spicy quote soup to spice up your day or night.

A chance doesn’t always ring twice. An outspoken “NO” can be a hidden “YES” for something better.Close doors for those who aren’t worth it, open windows for those who make an effort.
About those thousands of people you’ll meet in your life: the ones who seduce your heart and mind are for keeps.

Keep that inner sparkle alive and kicking, even around those who like it dull. You never know when one might see the light.

When the heart starts to wander into the unknown, don’t forget to take the brains with you.

The greatest free gifts: effort and time

The oneliner “Good things come to those who wait”, never appealed to me. How does that work anyway? You just sit around and wait and then suddenly you’ll get smacked with all the things you want? Only in Hollywood (movies) or your dreams. Besides that: if something is worth it, you always have to work for it. That applies to everything. From a great job and good friendships to a nice house and a stable relationship. It’s all part of the continuous work-hard-for-it game.
While you are working very hard for example to get a great job, a little thing called impatience comes looking around the corner. Because you actually want it like…right now. Right now isn’t always on the menu, so you have to work harder. The thing is: if you believe that you’ll end up where you want to be, you will. Because where there is a will, there …

Hey sunshine…

July 25, 2013 | Inspirational column | 0 comments

Since the sun is shining and sunshine is the meaning of my name,  ofcourse I should share some of my shine secrets…
In the western world the following formula applies: 25 °C or more + sunshine = happy people. In Western Europe, the official summer is about three months long. The unofficial summer is every year a surprise. Although it seems like the (lack) of sun always influences our mood. That’s the outside sun story which you (unfortunately) can’t control.
