When the present summer meets vintage summer hits

vinyl art record

These lovely summer days, call for a summer playlist. Now, there are two sides to this summer playlist story. There are those popular summer hits that everyone knows. From the Lambada to La Bamba. Great summer classics, I also replay those songs until I am tired of them. Which is after 100+ times usually. I am a really big fan of that replay button.

Men’s fashion special: what happened in the 70s, stays in the 70s

June 22, 2015 | Vintage Fashion | 1 comment

D.I.S.C.O…Does that word remind you of the 1970s?  Well, it’s the first thing that comes to mind when I think about the 70s. Disco v.s. alternative rock. Long hair for women and men. And what are 70s without beards and moustaches? Remember that I did a retro fashion blog serie? There are few eras that are undoubtedly in my toplist when it comes to fashion, class and appearance. Starting with the classy 1950s, closely followed by the swinging sixties. The practical and redefined 1940s and roaring twenties have a respectable third and fourth place.

Bring me some (great) character

A few days ago, I was watching a program on Dutch television. An interesting program where people looked back on their high school period and the (then) “most beautiful girl” in class (in Dutch: Het mooiste meisje van de klas). On contrary of the title, the program does not only focus on the appearance of the girl, but also her character, ambitions and ups and downs in life. Besides that it gives a nice peak into everyday life of a teenager in the 80s and 90s. And of course you already know how much I love those nostalgic vibes.

History of makeup – Chapter 1: Eyeliner

history of eyeliner with Oriental Spice and some Chocolate
After my personal ode to flower power, I realised that there is more where that came from. It’s time to make a few historical trips to the makeup world. Which means: another blog serie! These historical makeup trips include a little bit of personal history and a lot of worldwide history. Let’s hit it off with the first episode: eyeliner / kohl.
