10 Golden Oldies for your Netflix watchlist

A few weeks ago, I was ready for season 6 of my favorite series on Netflix. Oh the deception, when I realized I had to wait at least 11 months for the last season, which was apparently not on Netflix. I was not ready for another series (yet), so I browsed to the movie section. Then I wondered: how many golden oldies would be available on Netflix? Well, surprisingly there were more than I thought!
Here are 10 golden oldies for your Netflix watchlist. If you’re a newbie in Classic Hollywood land, these movies are definitely worth watching. If you’re not a newbie: when is the last time that you’ve watched these classics?

The oldies-but-goldies Christmas playlist

December 12, 2015 | Golden oldies | 0 comments

It’s that time of the year again. The time when a certain someone will tell you a little story about how he gave his heart away last Christmas (will he ever learn?) and someone else only wants you for Christmas, which is nice but she told you that so many times. You should know that by now.
Yes, it’s December again and the most wonderful time of the year is coming soon. In my perception, Christmas is also the most nostalgic time of the year. We watch (old) movies with our family and friends and bring up memories. 90s kids who always watch Home Alone as a Christmas tradition, raise your hands! Also, we love to listen to listen to the (Dutch) top 2000 songs of all time. With a lot of classic hits and memories. Nostalgia all around.

When the present summer meets vintage summer hits

These lovely summer days, call for a summer playlist. Now, there are two sides to this summer playlist story. There are those popular summer hits that everyone knows. From the Lambada to La Bamba. Great summer classics, I also replay those songs until I am tired of them. Which is after 100+ times usually. I am a really big fan of that replay button.

An ode to musical guilty pleasures

Remember the first single/album you bought years ago when you were 15? Or posters of the bands/artists who served as your wallpaper when you were a teenager? A few years later you grew up and you started listening fulltime to “quality” music. Still, every now and then you think back to the old days and the music you grew up with. A lot of those songs will still have a (secret) place in your nostalgic heart.

Songs of the week: Lovely Old Hollywood music flava

August 30, 2014 | Golden oldies | 0 comments

You know those songs that you heard for the first time and are on your repeat button ever since? That list will be growing today. It’s been a while, but finally it’s time for another episode of “Songs of the week”. In previous episodes, I have showed you some of my favorite jazz, soul and funk songs. Today I want to shine some light on some lovely Old Hollywood music masterpieces of the golden era. The songs below are on my Youtube repeat button since the first time I discovered them during my Old Hollywood movie nights.
Why?
Well first of all you will see that some of the songs are mimed and not really sung by the actresses mentioned below. Still I believe that they “own” the song, because of their acting, appearance and charisma. Besides that, these songs are pretty good! The writing of this post was actually delayed because of me, selecting …
